Sunday 9th of September 2018 and I spent the afternoon washing all my clothes and to clean all my bags and stuff. The electronic was beyond repair. The battery chargers to my camera was busted, my iPod is never to be used again. USB / Bluetooth loudspeakers and electronic cigarettes, all busted. Lucky that I kept 2 e-cigs in my back pack.
This was not a good start of the adventure on board m/t Ribe Mærsk

Monday 10th of September 2018 and we´re still anchored waiting for m/t Red Sea to come taking cargo from us. m/t Red Sea is a bunker boat and she will deliver bunker to ships around Djibouti and when she is empty they come to get more fuel oil from us. So they expect us to stay here for 30 to 60 days. I don´t mind as long as we have good weather and we have stuff to do.
2nd Officer, time for him to sign off
Busy sending stupid line messages
They come back on board
I spent the afternoon doing my watch on the bridge, drinking tea and eating my oatmeal. We´re waiting for the C/O and an Engineer to come back on board. They have been ashore and they should be here around 4 o´clock in the afternoon, but it was around 7 when they came back.
The C/O have been ashore for some internet course and he will relieve the Captain when he is going home. I know him from before so we were talking about the good ol´ times when he came on the bridge
I left the bridge at 8 and I was in bed at 9 o´clock with the alarm set to go off at 3 thirty.

Tuesday 11th of September 2018 and I was on the bridge 4 o´clock in the morning to take the morning watch. I prepared my tea and oatmeal watching the sun rise. The crew came on the bridge at 6 o´clock and we had our tool box meeting. I had prepared some risk assessments that we went through. When the tool box meeting was over the crew went on deck to start their work.

Wednesday 12th of September 2018 and we spent yet another day at the Djibouti anchorage, and it is no problem as I have plenty things to do so time pass really quickly.
+++++++++++++++
Thursday 13th of September 2018 and I arranged the gas detection binder and I tested all the gas detectors when I came down from the bridge. Captain brought me Indian snus, I tried it th efirst day and, well, honestly, it was nothing I fancied. But I have grown to like it.

Friday 14th of September 2018 and We spent yet another day at the anchorage waiting for m/t Red Sea. We can see her running around delivering bunkers to the ships. And when she will be empty she will come to us for more fuel oil. When I was back in my cabin after lunch I discovered a bag of Indian snus and a tube of lime or whatever it is in the tube.
Indian snus and you have to mix it with lime or whatever it is
Anyway, we have enough to do to keep us busy. We´re busy chipping and painting on deck and our Thai Painters are spray painting the superstructure so the ship will soon look nice.

Saturday 15th of September 2018 and we had another full day at the anchorage waiting for m/t Red Sea to come. We will have a vetting inspection at the next discharging so we are also preparing a little bit for this. I have made a new mooring equipment binder as we have new rules coming in to effect 17th of september.

Sunday 16th of September 2018 and yet another gorgeous morning and same as every day, around 6 thirty and I check the gyro error against the sun. Still nothing form m/t Red Sea but the latest is 18 or 19. She will come alongside and we will discharge for 12 hours or so and she will be gone for 2 weeks again.
A gorgeous morning

Monday 17th of September 2018 and still no news from m/t Red Sea, so we´re lucky to have enough to keep us busy while waiting here on the anchorage. I have managed to order a new e-cigarettes from India and the Chief Engineer will bring it for me when he joins in the beginning of October. I have failed to get a battery charger as they only accept credit cards issued in India.
But our 3 Officers brother is on it in Kolkata and I will hopeful be able to get a charger. I need it if I will have to stay behind when I sign off to look for birds. And we have a lot of birds on deck as well. But as it is now, I don’t want to waste any battery power.

Tuesday 18th of September 2018 and here we go again. 4 o´clock in the morning and I start with tea and oatmeal. Then a few stupid Line messages. The watch passed by pretty quickly and I was soon in the CCR. Pump Man and I will go to inspect the void spaces and we will hopefully be ready before lunch so there will be some rest before the evening watch.
It is a gorgeous morning
Ship arriving
DARN! It was hot in the void spaces. Cargo 40°C and the sun is pounding deck all day long. So I lost a few kilos in the tanks, good. After noon passed very quickly and it was soon time to go on watch on the bridge. Evening on the bridge and not much else to do but to drink tea and to have a good time trying to get the time to pass as quickly as possible.
A proper cup of tea in the evening

Wednesday 19th of September 2018 and, yeah, yet another morning at Djibouti anchorage. I discovered heavy rain clouds in the sky, and as my Guide told me when we passed the dry rivers when we looked for birds. Rain season will start in september.
Painting on deck
Our Thai Team is painting the bridge deck. I thought that we were out of grey top coat, but they found 60 litres so we have enough for a full coat on the bridge deck. And as it looks to be yet another few days before m/t Red Sea needs more fuel oil we will have a chance to make the ship looks good before the vetting.
Sun is setting over Africa

Thursday 20th of September 2018 and the anchorage wasn’t much more exciting today than yesterday. I had my morning tea enjoying the day breaking and today we had big black rain clouds over us, but no rain. The clouds will hopefully give us some cover from the sun
Good morning tea
Rain season have started and the sky is full of black clouds
The boys came on the bridge at 6 and we started with some good ol´ gymnastics before they disappeared on deck to start the work on deck and I made myself a cup of tea.
My e-cig reached the destination today, but FedEx wanted to get paid and it was sent back. I think it is a scam. I had paid 100 Dollar and they take the parcel to FedEx. They hand over the parcel and pay the shipping. So I think it is a scam, trying to get paid twice.
Why would anyone wanting to send something that is not paid for and why would FedEx want to ship something they might get paid for? So I guess it was a scam. But Indivape promised to get the pack back on the road again.

Friday 21st of September 2018 and we´re up and running with our good morning routines starting at 6 o´clock. We start to swing and stretch so we are warmed up for the heavy work on deck. Some stretching is going to do us very good. And the boys, at first surprised, a new experience for them, but now they kind of expect it.
Our Pump man and I started to check the operating times of our cargo valves, a job we expect to take a few days. Never running out of things to do on a Mærsk ship.

Saturday 22nd of September 2018 and we are still anchored when I come for my watch on the bridge at 4 o´clock in the morning. Turned out to be yet another full day at the anchorage
+++++++++++++++
Sunday 23rd of September 2018 and it looks like we might have m/t Red Sea coming alongside on the 26th. Will be nice to put the vetting inspection behind us.
+++++++++++++++
Monday 24th of September 2018 and we had some of our drills before the lunch. Still a few remaining but we will do them after the vetting inspection.
+++++++++++++++
Tuesday 25th of September 2018 and we did the pre-transfer checks today as it looks like m/t Red Sea 1 will come alongside tomorrow morning.
+++++++++++++++
Wednesday 26th of September 2018 and I had expected m/t Red Sea to be alongside early morning. But when I woke up at 7 thirty there was still no 2 hour notice for me. Now their estimated arrival time was at 11 o´clock. But at 11 she was still alongside another ship and then I heard on the radio that she will have two more boats to bunker before she will arrive here.
The Vetting Inspector is ashore waiting and it was decided that he would come on board during the afternoon, and he will stay overnight in case m/t Red Sea isn´t coming tonight.
Vetting inspector on board just before 5 o´clock and he had, as well as I, wait for the tug boat and no one around to tell him when the boat was available. Yes, they had told us 14:00 but a few hours extra in this part of the world is nothing.
+++++++++++++++
Thursday 27th of September 2018 and m/t Red Sea arrived around 6 thirty in the morning. The Vetting inspector left after lunch and we had have a very good vetting. We completed discharging in the evening and m/t red Sea left us at midnight thirty.
Enjoying tea in the CCR

Friday 28th of September 2018 and now we have to start waiting for m/t Red Sea again, they told us it would take another 10 days, but who knows, maybe 3 weeks again.
+++++++++++++++
Saturday 29th of September 2018 and we completed the last drills for this month before lunch. Now we will start all over again next month. Some excitements to look forward to.
