Qantas flight QF1937 from Darwin to Alice Springs

Qantas domestic flight

Tuesday 26th of July 2016 and it was not as hard as I had expected to get out of bed when my alarm went off at 4 o'clock. I went to bed at 10 thirty yesterday. Yes, the plan was to get up Vintage Australian travel posterearly to reach the first flight so I would have the time to explore Alice Springs before leaving to Ayers Rock with the bus VERY early tomorrow morning.

A diet drink and some bread and smoked salmon before going to the Darwin taxireception. The taxi was waiting for me and we were soon on our way to the airport.

As expected, there wasn't much traffic going to the airport. And as the taxi was at the reception already when I came to the reception a few minutes before 5 o'clock we reached the airport a few minutes after 5. We ended up behind a bus and about 10 cars when we approached the airport so I got a wee bit worried about how many people there were going to be at the airport.

But they turned off the road to something looking like a camping site in the dark. But there was no cars at the airport. I went inside and I had soon checked in to Qantas Qantas flight QF1937 from Darwin to Alice Springsflight QF1937. And the guy at the check-in blocked the seat next to me.

And as we are flying with a Boeing 717 it means that I will sit alone in my row. 2 seats on the port side and 3 seats on the starboard side.

And I was going to sit in the last row. I had selected the seat online yesterday and today I got it confirmed, I will be alone in my row. This is how I like to travel, I can be alone stretching my leg and I have 2 seats for my arse.

I spent an hour with my web page after check-in. I finished my last diet drink before I went through the security. Friendly staff, and have been on all the airports I had been to in Australia. And so far, it have been very nice airports and they have been looking new.

Last time I was at any airport in Australia was in Perth, and that airport was for sure not what I would like to have called nice. But that is a few years ago now.

It had been very smooth and we started to board 10 minutes before 7 o'clock. Departure time 07:10 and the flight is two hours. I was of course not looking forward to the flight, but it will be OK. And I expect to be at my hotel Aurora Alice Springs around 10 o'clock.

The flight was OK and I managed to sleep a little. Arriving to Alice Springs and it was ice cold. Not what I had expected. But now I have put two domestic flights behind me here in Australia and they have been nice. But there is still a few to go before I go back home.

I'm working my way through boring domestic flights:
Cairns to Darwin
Darwin to Alice Springs
Ayers Rock to Adelaide
Kangaroo Island to Adelaide
Adelaide to Melbourne
Melbourne to Sydney

There was one taxi waiting and I was lucky to get the taxi as no one else seemed interested in the taxi. I was going inside the car when another guy came. The Driver asked if he wanted to share and we shared the taxi to town.

I will get off at Aurora Hotel and I will save a few bucks by sharing. And you just need to click HERE to find out what Alice Springs have to offer.
