Tuesday 10th of May 2022 and I slept a wee bit longer today as I arrived back home late yesterday evening. The boat is leaving Vestmanna at 10:15 and we arrive just before 10 o'clock. We got our tickets that I bought yesterday and there were more than 40 passengers, I think it was 46 passengers on the morning tour.
So, the boat will be almost full, 50 passengers maximum. We had time for a cup of tea in the restaurant before it was time to board the boat
I took a seat on top of the boat, my friends took a seat inside down stair. The weather was OK and it was not cold so we were lucky with the weather. My friend sends me a selfie from down below. I tell them to come up as it is nice weather.

We started the cruise by having a look at some salmon farms in the harbour and then we started to move towards north and the open sea. We followed the west coast of the island Streymoy.
It was nice to sit on top deck, almost full but there was just a wee bit of space to move on the bench to take pictures. Not enough to get in to a good place to get pictures. But it was not easy to get pictures the boat was moving about in the swell.
So I was soon giving up the idea of getting any bird pictures, some of them were good enough for ID.

Back at Vestmanna and we had lunch at the restaurant, a very good fish soup. My friends return to Torshavn and as I will go on the boat on the afternoon tour as well stayed behind. I drive to eBird hotspot: Vestmanna--Heygadalsvatn. This is the dam above Vestmanna that they use for the hydro power plant. There was not so many birds and I returned to Vestmanna that is also an eBird hotspot: .
I drove around in Vestmanna killing time until next departure at 14:15 and so far, there is less booking for the afternoon trip so I have high hopes to get pictures of birds.
There were not many birds in Vestmanna, but in the marina there were some birds and I spotted more of the hybrid mallards.
We boarded to boat to the Bird Cliff at 14:15 and we are 9 passengers less than in the morning. I took my seat on the top deck, but top deck was soon full and I moved down to the poop deck. This area was crowded as well. I went inside and the saloon was empty and I felt asleep.
This was a real disappointment, no room to move outside and I gave up the idea to get any bird pictures. I drive back to Torshavn when we are back in Vestmanna. I will go to check out the eBird hotspot: Kirkjubøur to have a look for the King Eider that have been reported there.
Kirkjubøur is located just south of Torshavn and I pass Gamlarætt port. The ferry to Sandoy leaves from here and this is also where the tunnel to Sandoy. They are through and they are now pave the road in the tunnel so there will soon be no more need for the ferry.

I see two Black Guillemots and a Gannet in Gamlarætt and that is pretty much it. I am soon on my way towards Kirkjubøur and it turns out to be a beautiful village. There were a lot of Eiders and I also spotted some Northern Fulmars and Gannets.
I see the first Wren since I arrived to Faroe Islands but I did not get any good pictures. One picture that I can use.
I turn of my eBird app at 18:17 and I drive back to my apartment in Torshavn. I stop at the eBird hotspot: Velbastadhalsen--ponds by the road and I get a few pictures of an Whimbrel.
I will go north tomorrow to explore the north of Faroe Islands tomorrow. This promise to be exciting and you just need to click HERE to find out how it goes.
OK, it has come to my knowledge that we have senior citizens visiting my web page. How hard can it be? So it's not very easy for them to see the blue coloured links to the next page.
