Thursday 5th of October 2017 and we left the hotel quarter to 7 bound for the marina in Neiafu. We are soon following three humpback whales. A mommy and baby plus a male escort. We follow the whales and when we finally get in to the water the whales are far away and we cannot see the whale. The other tried to swim after the whale, but I gave up. It was a bad drop and it is just to realise that you cannot race a swimming whale.
The boat driver starts to scream at me.
- LOOK DOWN! LOOK DOWN!
The whales have turned around and they are swimming back passing just in front of me. And yet again, the camera gives me a reason to get angry and disappointed. All the money wasted for nothing, the pictures leaves very much to wish for.
Following the whales
Ready to get in to the water
They pass just in front of me
They pass just in front of me
The pictures turned out to be shit. BUT IT WAS A VERY IMPRESSIVE SIGHT!!! Three Humpback whales swimming in front of you is not a sight you will forget soon. But the camera, darn!! We were not lucky with the rest of the day. The sleeping whale from yesterday is still there sleeping so we went there to have a look. Let's say that we were not all that enthusiastic as we wanted to see baby whales swimming with us for hours.
I got another shitty picture and YES!!!! I also got a video that I'm happy with so I was in a good mood when we returned to Neiafu and the van that will take us to Vava'u Villa.
We continue to look for whales
Here we have another prize winner
Back at Vava'u Villa and I changed my clothes really quick and I went to look for the parrot again. I never saw any parrots, but I managed to get pictures of the Polynesian Triller. I had pictures of the bird from previous days, but they were very bad.
We will have dinner in town tonight so I left for my room to leave my camera and we left Vava'u Villa around 6 o'clock bound for Bella Vista
I had been told about a 7 Eleven and Pepsi MAX so I had the driver to take me investigating when we had dropped the guys at the restaurant. & Eleven turns out to be a wooden hut, local restaurant and no Pepsi MAX so I was soon back at Bella Vista. Tomorrow and we want to see whales. Today had been OK, but we're not very happy with the whale sightings here on Tonga. But as I told the man from Germany.
- At least we have seen Tonga, I said.
- Yes, we can at least thick off Tonga from our list
OK, so we have another day of excitements tomorrow, so you can click HERE to find out if there will be any more stunning photos.
OK, it has come to my knowledge that we have senior citizens visiting my web page. How hard can it be? So it's not very easy for them to see the blue coloured links to the next page.
