Friday 22nd of January 2016 and it was dense for when I looked out the window. So I had been very lucky, imagine going to look at Taj Mahal today. I called room service and they were soon Hotel Clarks Shiraz in Agraknocking on my door with a pot of tea.

I enjoyed the morning in my room and at 8 thirty I went for breakfast. I stopped in the reception and told them that I had have 2 mango juice in the mini bar so they could prepare my bill while I had my breakfast.

I also told them That I would not pay for the internet. Yes, believe it or not, 2016 and there are still hotels where you have to pay for the internet. Never mind if I have to pay, but then I expect something spectacular. I had asked them if it was any good internet and it was.

Didn't work most of the time and it was very slow. So I can as well use my phone as a WIFI hot spot. I can see TV news and listen to radio with my phone. Hotel WIFI, not possible as it Hotel Clarks Shiraz in Agrawas very slow.

Never mind, I did not have to pay for the internet. I had some chicken sausages and an onion & cheese omelette for breakfast and my driver was waiting when I came out from the hotel a few minutes before 9 o'clock.

Except for the internet, the Hotel Clarks Shiraz in Agra had been nice. The food have been good so I would have stayed here again if I had had any plans to return to Agra. But as I don't have any Hotel Clarks Shiraz in Agraplans of ever come back here I left the hotel never to come back.

Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, it was kind on mind boggling that I had been walking around these places. maybe even in the same footsteps 500 kg and almost 30 years ago.

Back then a young adventures, or นักผจญภัย as we say back home when we're out looking at birds in the “wilderness”

We left the hotel a few minutes after 9 and as always I had to fight for my bags. I want to carry my own bags as I had never seen anyone washing their hands. But India is like Thailand, Wash your hands!you can greet people with a wai Yet another Smiley on www.aladdin.st

I have used the wai several times here in India and in Thailand even though I feel stupid doing it. But it is a great way to greet each other. And on a serious note, never mind what cute stories they come up with about the wai. Let me quote wikipedia:

“The wai originated from an ancient greeting that was done to show neither individual had any weapons. There exist multiple versions of the greeting based on social class, gender, and age. Wash your handThe gesture may come from Buddhism, which sometimes involves prostration, or clasping the hands palms together and bowing to the ground. The gesture first appears c. 4000 years ago on the clay seals of the Indus Valley Civilization”

I think they came up with this great way of greeting each other because they knew that no one was washing their hands. And when I walk around Bangkok I always try to carry something in my right hand so I don't have to shake hands with people, then the “one hand” wai comes in handy using my left hand.

So yes, I want to carry my own luggage. Anyway, we were soon on our way to New Delhi on very foggy roads. It will take 3 to 4 hours to get to New Delhi on the new highway.

We will pass through Old Delhi on the way to the Lime Tree hotel in New Delhi so we will complete todays itinerary on the way to the hotel.

1) Tour of Old Delhi

We had been hauling arse on the Expressway between Agra and Delhi but as soon as we came close to Delhi the traffic turned heavy. We had been on the way for about 3 hours and as I had planned for a “speed” sight-seeing of the Old Delhi I was hoping to be at my hotel before 2 o'clock in the afternoon, 5 hours after departure from the Hotel Clarks Shiraz in Agra.

Old Delhi, sounds exciting? Well, maybe, and you will soon find out. Just click HERE!
