Thursday 12th of September 2024 and I turn on the kettle first thing when my alarm goes off at 4 thirty. And I discover two Toblerone that I had bought in the mini mart around the corner from the hotel yesterday evening.
Earl Grey tea and chocolate, not very healthy, but it taste very good and I was soon full of “pep”
Thanks to the chocolate I was not hungry going for breakfast, but a pot of tea and an cheese omelette would keep me going until I am back home in the afternoon.
Coming in to the restaurant and one old lady told me that she liked my hat.
The staff directed me to a table and I went to have a look at what was for offer while waiting for the tea. Pretty much the standard assortment, I asked for a cheese omelette. I changed my order to two after a few seconds.
I brought my omelettes by the bacon tray when I returned to my table and there was a pot of Earl Grey tea waiting for me.
The breakfast was OK, mostly because of the tea and I was soon back in my room. Standing in the elevator and the lady that had liked my hat spotted me and she wated to join with her friends.
She had been living in the USA for 41 years and she really liked my hat.
- You should wear one, I said
- OH NO! I WAS ATTACKED ONCE!
- You should kick their arse, I suggested.
The whole elevator said: YEEEAAAHH!
I got out on the third floor and I said good bye. Thai Airways flight TG 621 is leaving at 1 o'clock and I have planned to leave my room at 11. I expect 5 minutes to walk to Terminal 3 at Ninoy Aquino International via the Terminal 3 Skywalk from Newport City.
There are several hotels in the Newport City and the Belmont Hotel Manila is the closest hotel to the Terminal 3 Skywalk, also known as Runway Manila.
Runway Manila is air-conditioned pedestrian bridge and it is convenient and quick to get to Terminal 3 from the hotels in Newport City.
Checking out and I am at the elevator to Runway Manila in a minute and there is a security check and they scanned my bags. No need to empty the pockets. Just the bags to go through an x-ray machine.
A wee bit later I am on the Runway Manila and I start walking towards Terminal 3 at Ninoy Aquino International in the comfort of air condition.

Maintenance all over the airport, but no sign of Technicians at site

Blame it on Trump
Reaching Terminal 3 at Ninoy Aquino International a few minutes after having checked out from my hotel and there was a security check again. This time I had to empty my pockets and it was the whole song and dance.
Passing the security and there was a lot of restaurants, this is the floor above the check-in level. I pass the restaurants and I reach an escalator going down to the check-in level. Preventive maintenance, lo and behold, there are Technicians on site.
But if I would have been in charge I would have done the “preventive” maintenance during the night. So, my guess is that it is a breakdown as they had to stop the operation during the day when the terminal is full of passengers.

Preventive maintenance! Well, my guess is that it is broken down. Preventive work should be done during the night
I walk along and I reach one escalator that is working. Security is asking me for a boarding pass.
- Boarding pass? I am going down to check-in!
- You must have a boarding pass!
- Is this a joke? I am going to get my boarding pass!
It went on and on and she told me that I had to take the elevator if I did not have any boarding pass. I went to take the elevator and I was soon at Thai Airways check-in counter.
Imagine having a job like this, must be very satisfying when the work pass is over. Stopping people to use the escalator and send them to the elevator.

Immigration was a quick affair
Check-in was quick and I went to the immigration and there were not many people. But they opened the wall and we got to the security and then immigration and I was in the departure hall.
I had some pesos so I went to buy Toblerone for my last money. Thai Airways flight TG 621 is leaving from gate 116 and as Singapore Airlines lounge was just next to the gate, I went in to have a soda water. Yes, I was thirsty after all the excitement on the airport, three security checks, NON-STOP drama.
If the lounge is far away from the gate I usually go straight to the gate, sitting in the lounge is a little bit over rated. At least I think so.
I grabbed a soda water and I took a seat at a table to enjoy my refreshment.
There are snacks on offer

I felt a wee bit peckish so I went to see what they had to offer and I had two plates of noodles and some dessert. It tasted good and it was time to leave for the flight by the time I was full.
Waiting for 10 minutes or so before the boarding started and I had a chat with a guy that was on his way to Singapore. He was also a photographer and he had been around looking for birds as well.
Biz is fully booked so I will have someone sitting next to me, nothing I am happy about, but it is a short flight so it should be OK.
Our plane waiting to take us to Bangkok
Back home before 5 o'clock and there is laundry to do. A cup of the while waiting for the laundry and in bed early. I will be back at Chaiyasit Muay Thai Gym for a little bit of exercise with The Red Devil (ปีศาจแดง ก.กุมานนท์)
I need to get to Sweden to attend to an STCW course Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats. My scooter broke down on the way to Chaiyasit Muay Thai Gym. I called Honda and they came to pick up my Honda Giorno. The scooter was ready after a couple of days.
I had a loaner from Honda so I could go to Chaiyasit Muay Thai Gym for my daily exercise with The Red Devil (ปีศาจแดง ก.กุมานนท์) I picked up my scooter and they auto stop/ start mad a knocking sound and I went back to the shop.
First they were telling me that it was normal and I was back to see the Manager a couple of days later. The Mechanics were laughing telling me it was normal and I got angry.
Why is it only my ducking scooter making the noise? Call the Manager! The manager came and he was listening and no one knew what it was. I suggested to record the sound and send to Honda.
I left my scooter at the Honda shop and I got the loaner again. They moved my rearview mirrors to the loaner so I can see behind me. I hope they can repair the scooter before I leave for my training course in Sweden.
Not able to repair and I have to leave the scooter at the Honda shop. I stopped to buy some US dollars at SuperRich at Seacon Square on my way back home from Chaiyasit Muay Thai Gym after my last session with The Red Devil (ปีศาจแดง ก.กุมานนท์) for a few months.
I will go to Brazil after 3 days in Sweden and I need some dollars for my bird watching Guide. And I knew SuperRich after having bought dollar here before going to look for birds on The Philippines back in September.

Sausage for lunch
Walking back to my scooter and I passed a “Bratwurst” place and I stopped to have a look. I decided to test and I took a seat. The sausage, well, it was OK.
I stopped at the Honda shop and I got one of the Mechanics to go with me back home so he could return my loaner to the shop. And my scooter will hopefully be ready by the time I am back home again.
