Thursday 10th of October 2024 and I wake up at 3 thirty and I try to get back to sleep, impossible. So, I enjoy my tea when the alarm goes off at 4 o'clock
I go down to the reception at 6 o'clock to pick up some document I have sent to them for printing. The document was ready when I came down and I went straight to the breakfast corner.
I had three cups of tea with some chicken sausages and two slices of fresh bread. Finished the food and I was zipping on my tea.

NO GO AREA!
There was an NO GO AREA with fresh Danish and I went to explore the area. When I spotted it the first time, I decided to stay well clear. But, I am not in Denmark so often, and fresh Danish, well, it is very tasty.
So, I took a plate and there seemed to be a slight problem, the sticky Danish were stuck together and I ended up with 4 Danish. I finished my Danish and it was instant regret.
I went back to my room and I packed my bags while enjoying my last refreshment. My flight leaves at 10:00 and my plan is to leave the hotel around 8 o'clock. I checked out at 7 thirty and I was in the lounge at 8 o'clock.
Went much quicker than expected to check-in, security was very quick and I have about 90 minutes to kill before it is time to board my first flight to Gardemoen, Oslo.
Flying Scandinavian Airlines, but I have a TAP Air Portugal flight, TP 5595. Share flight so the original flight is an SAS flight, SK 1466.
SAS lounge
I had two soda water in the lounge before I left for the gate and my flight to Oslo. Walking across Kastrup to reach gate B6 on the other side of the airport, good, a micro gram of the Danish
Before
After
from this very morning disappeared in a jiff.
I did not have any V-shaped torso by the time I arrived to gate B6, but almost. A brisk in th emorning is doing you a lot of good.
There was not many passengers at the gate and I was getting a bit worried about the flight. No information about delays or cancellations. And I was relieved when the pilots arrived.
The plane is waiting for us

No marking on the SAS airplane
In my seat waiting for departure
Boarding completed and there were not many passengers on board, nothing I felt any bad about. The flight is just an hour, but it is nice with an empty flight.
We were pulled back from the jet bridge and we got the Safety instructions and the Stewardess showed us standing in front. It was nice, they are mostly doing it on the screens now adays.
Little bit “old school” and it was refreshing. We were soon leaving a gloomy and grey Copenhagen behind bound for Oslo in the north.
I brought my own refreshments
The other guy in my row had brought his own refreshments as well, a bottle of MAX. So, we did not take anything on offer from the drink/ snack cart. I asked if they had MAX but they only had Coke and I told them that then I would prefer rat poison.
Our refreshments were finished by the time we landed at Gardemoen International in Oslo. We came of the plane and my next flight TAP AIr Portugal flight TP 742 will depart from gate F8.
So, it was a little bit to tot and I passed a kiosk and I bought two refreshments, next flight is 4 hours ++ and I am pretty sure they only have the bad stuff onboard.
The lounge is just next to the gate so I went up to have a glass of water, not much time to spend a sit was soon time to board. But I had time to upload some pictures to the internet.
The gate was full of people and they staff walked around telling that it was only allowed with one carry on. The flight to Lisboa is full and the overhead bins will be full. Well, the passengers that had to check their luggage was not so very happy.
I was happy when boarding finally started, but I was soon to find out that the jet bridge was closed and we had to wait on the jet bridge for the plane to be ready.

Finally in my seat
Norway, well normally you have one jet bridge connected forward and one in the middle, but in Norway they do things different.
Row 17 and above had to get out on the tarmac to board via a mobile stairs in the back. Imagine doing that in January or when the rain is pouring down.
Domestic, or short flight and they use economy class seats in business and the block the middle seat. Our flight to Lisboa is 4 hours ++ so I was really disappointed to find out that we had to sit in economy class seats.
And the four hours really turned very slow, this was not an enjoyable flight and when we landed in Lisboa I was very happy, even though we were late and it was about 30 minutes until my next flight is departing for Belem in Brazil.
And on top of that, we had to go by bus to the terminal. And TAP they really filled up the busses before we got away. Luckily enough, we parked very close to gate 41 where my next flight will depart from.

I went through immigration and then I expected security, I was impressed for the first time today, no security. And why should there be, we are coming straight from another flight.
Just immigration as we are leaving EU, automated passport gates so it was quick to pass. and it took me a minute to reach the gate 141, or 41. It was the first gate after the immigration.
There was a lot of people waiting to board and the boarding was open and I was surprised to be the first to board flight TP47 to Belem, Brazil. Well, that is what I thought, I am soon to discover that the jet bridge is full so I cannot even step out on the jet bridge.

Coming onboard and I was relieved to discover that it was proper “flat bed” chairs. But it is a 2 - 2 configuration with every second row 1 - 1 configuration. I had never seen a stupid configuration like this before.
No space for me to work with my computer and in the row behind me it was only one seat. The table, seriously, who have come up with this design. They were stored between the seats like a divider and when it was time to eat you folded the table down in front of you.
The whole business class experience with TAP Air Portugal having a “LOW COST” airline feeling to it. The price is for sure not giving any “LOW COST” vibes.
This ticket is more expensive than what I usually pay between Asia and Europe. But the seat is comfy, well, except for the table. But I can always loose a few hundred kilos.
Then I think it would be confy with the table in front of me.
Biz is full and I have a Polish Chief Officer in the seat next to me. He is telling me some very bad news. I expect to arrive to Belem 21:25 and my new friend will join his ship as soon as we land.
we talked about our experiences on joining ships, coming straight from the airport and he expect to be onboard very late, well, early morning.
I tell him that it will most likely be after midnight and he say that he think it will be even later.
- We are stopping on Cabo Verde, he said.
- What the
I call the Steward to interrogate him. He confirms that we are going down on Cabo Verde to refill fuel. Their emergency airport is closed and the next airport is one hour from Belem. The airplane is full and we have a lot of luggage so there will not be enough fuel.
He told me that we will be delayed by about 30 minutes and I got angry, well, upset. Treating customers like idiots, yes, most people would have said: Good, 30 minutes, no problem.
But I can put 2 and 2 together and I aske d him how this was possible.
- We are already delayed by and hour and we are gong down to refill the plane, that is at least one hour. We were delayed bu almost an hour by the time they pulled us from the jet bridge.
Our dinner
We took off and they served dinner, again, the “LOW COST” airline vibes hit me. The food was OK, but it is nothing compared to Singapore Airlines or Turkish Airlines. And the presentation is not even coming close.
I asked for salt and the Steward reached down to his pocket and he brought up one of those small sachets with salt and pepper. One of those are not enough.
- Only one? I asked
He reached down to his pocket a second time and got another bag with salt. Salt and pepper sachets, wasn't that the things back in the 70's?
I tried to work a bit on my computer but I was soon giving up. They offered some chocolate and I had a piece.
About one hour to go to Cabo Verde and I felt asleep and I woke up when it was time to land. We filled up the plane and it was more than one hour before we were airborne again. I asked for some chocolate but they had run out of chocolate.
- Men va fan!
I gave up the idea to work on my computer as I was very tired. My original plan was to stay awake to come in to Brazilian time immediately. But the stop on Cabo Verde destroyed that plan.
Time for a power nap
I felt asleep and I slept for about two hours and they woke me up 90 minutes before arrival. Time for a snack, well, not much to write home about, but I had two cups of tea.
I get a tea bag and two cups of hot water. Imagine this in Singapore Airlines, they would have had a heart attack. The tea is coming ready to your seat.
Well, most important is the seat and for sure, I would have gone crazy sitting in the back. So, it was worth the money for the last leg. The first two legs, in monkey class seat. But I would never have got my luggage with me.
Arriving to Belem 2 hours late, immigration was quick, a few minutes to wait for my luggage and I was soon past custom. No place to buy SIM card. No cards or US dollars accepted to buy water.
I changed 30 US$ so I had some local currency and I went to buy 4 bottles of water.
- What the ? 52 Scooby Doo Dollars, that is 10 US$ How much will the taxi cost?
The taxi was only 60 Scooby Doo Dollars and the girl at the taxi booth took me to a taxi and I was soon on my way to ibis Styles Belém do Pará.
On my way to the hotel
Arriving to ibis Styles Belém do Pará and I checked in to my room, I was a little bit disappointed. No water kettle so I cannot have any tea tomorrow morning. I pay 225 US$ per night and i had expected a little it more.
But there is a big festival and this was the only hotel I could book, well, there was a couple of dormitories and apartments. I was looking at some of the apartments, same price but better. But as I arrived late in the night I could not check-in.
So, I was very happy to have found this hotel. It is OK and I will buy a kettle tomorrow. The hotel, yes, the price is a robbery, but it is better than to sleep on the airport.

At least there is a desk
I downloaded an eSIM for Brazil and I signed up for a travel insurance as I had forgot all about any travel insurance. I remembered it on the flight over the Atlantic and now I can relax a bit with SEVEN CORNERS covering my back.
Maybe because of the excitement to go look for Brazilian birds tomorrow and I had a hard time to fall asleep. My Guide will pick me up at 7 o'clock and you just need to click HERE to find out if I see any Brazilian birds.
OK, it has come to my knowledge that we have senior citizens visiting my web page. How hard can it be? So it's not very easy for them to see the blue coloured links to the next page.
