Monday 22nd of February 2016 and it is Holiday and the Swedish Bakery is closed was my first thought when my friend knocked on my door at 7 o'clock in the morning. I ripped open a diet drink and I relaxed for a while before my shower and at 8 o'clock I joined my friend and his son for breakfast. The breakfast is for sure nothing making you want to hurry up to get out of your room.
Well, it was my first breakfast at the hotel, but as I had launched an investigation about the breakfast when I checked in I had not any expectations.
I got the menu and there was the sausage and bacon with fried egg. The same they had told me but there was also home fried potato. So I asked for potato but they told me they didn't had any potato because none of the guests ever liked the home fried potato. And as I'm very diplomatic I suggested that they should hire a Cook.
Hire a Cook, this was nothing they had ever considered. They were cooking in the reception and I got some toast, bacon, egg and a sausage. They also brought a half full cup of tea. The sausage, I made a mental not to ask them NOT to make any sausage for me tomorrow morning.
So how to kill our day in Hua Hin? I had been hoping for some whale watching but the tour operator told my friend that the whales had gone south when he called them yesterday. What a disappointment. What and end to the long Hua Hin weekend that would have been! Bear and Bryde’s whales. Well, I will have to go check for whales some other time.
And I'm still in contact with Donsol ECO Tours, still no whale sharks in Donsol. But I hope they will come soon so I have time to see them before I leave for Roy Maersk in the middle of March. So now we have a full day here in Hua Hin and here is not exactly much to get excited over, except of course for the brids (and bears)
My friend wanted to see the Ratchaphakdi Park. I had passed the park on my way to the bird watching and my friend asked if it was far away. I told him it was maybe 15 minutes or so. He wanted to go see the Ratchaphakdi Park as this must by now be the most famous park in Thailand.
I asked my friend if we could go there without getting arrested. There have been so much written about the Ratchaphakdi Park in the newspapers and so much trouble.
Below is a link to different newspapers in Thailand, interesting reading. Or just search for the Ratchaphakdi Park on the internet and you will have more information than you care for. But it is interesting and we can learn a lot about a lot of things.
Anyway, after reading this you understand why I was joking with my friend and I told him that I was scared to go there. We might get arrested and my friend and the hotel staff looked at me like I was crazy. Make sure you don't wear a red shirt! Never know what happens
Anyway, we took off towards the park and, yeah, well, now my friend have seen the park and I have no plans to come back. We were on our way after 5 to 10 minutes. We had been recommended to go see the Plearn Wan - เพลินวัน and that means something like “the good ol' days” Anyway, we arrived to the place and it looked like an old village, but it turned out to be yet another market. How many markets is it possible to have in a small town?
And yes, they had about the same things you could by, well, pretty much everywhere else. But there was an area with games, throwing darts at balloons, shooting BB guns and car race by means of throwing a ball in to holes. We won plenty candy and a big stuffed something plus 4 small animals I won at the shooting range.
Some fishing pond where you can win stuff
Unbelievable suspense, is there a prize in the ball?

It was hot during mid-day and we returned to the hotel for two hours of rest. We left the hotel around 3 o'clock and we had decided to go check out the mouth of Pran Buri River south of Hua Hin. We drove south along the coast and it was a quite beautiful area. We walked along the beach and it looked like we had ended up at a kite surfing site. There were plenty people kite surfing. And one thing stroke me and my friend, only Westerners and the area was clean. No garbage in the area except for the garbage that the high water had brought in.
We had dinner in the area and we were back at our hotel around 7 o'clock and it was soon time to go to bed and tomorrow morning we will leave for Bangkok. And if you click HERE you will find yourself in the middle of a Thai highway adventure
OK, it has come to my knowledge that we have senior citizens visiting my web page. How hard can it be? So it's not very easy for them to see the blue coloured links to the next page.
