  Monday 30th of November 2015 and they called me at 6 o'clock. I was in the restaurant for breakfast just before 7 thirty and I was in the car quarter to 8. And we left Best Western Hotel  La Corona and Manila behind 10 minutes before 8 o'clock.
It is a holiday on the Philippines so the traffic was very light and we were almost alone on the express way. We left the express way and we were pretty alone until we reached a new toll way. We were alone again and we were hauling arse and I expected to reach Donsol very soon. But we were soon leaving the express way and we ended up on the Pan Philippine Highway. Pan Philippine Highway, this sounded good and, yes, I was in an upbeat mood. Highway and we will soon be in Donsol. But I was soon to learn that the Pan Philippine Highway is what we call a bike lane in Sweden. When we reached the first town the traffic came to a full stop. The Pan Philippine Highway passes through every town and village between Manila and Donsol.  Some holiday and the road is blocked by a marching band

  over, through a national park. It started to rain and it was raining constantly since we had been on the mountain.
We decided to stop for a few pictures, and of course, it was nice to stretch our legs. I asked the driver to stop at the next gas  stop so I could buy a map. It would be nice to be able to follow the progress on a map.
The driver told me that we were halfway and I was happy. We started to get hungry as well. We  got going again and we drove for 15 minutes or so before we found a gas stop. And no, they did not have any maps. I was disappointed.
I can always check on the internet when I'm at my hotel later on. I will try to memorise  the name of the places this adventure brings me to. Or more correctly, make me pass through.
There is a MC Donalds in town, but this is not a place I want to eat and my driver told me that there were a Pizza in one of the towns we are going to pass through. I looked up the street, OPPS  sorry, I mean the Pan Philippine Highway. There  was a Jollibee sign, but as with MC Donalds, not a place I want to eat at.
We were soon on our way again and we passed both MC Donalds and Jollibee before we left the town behind. We drove and we drove and the time passed by and I had to confirm if we really had been half way when we stopped at the Pacific Ocean. And what about the Pizza. The hours passed by and there were no sign of us coming closer to Donsol. Average speed was around 40 km/h according to the GPS in the car.  7 hours and it starts to get boring

We were pushing 8 ours in the car when I asked where the darn Pizza was. It was in the next  town. Naga, and it turned out to be a big town with plenty restaurants. Shakey's Pizza was the place we were looking for and it was very nice to get out of the car, 8  hours on the road, no drink and food. Just a few minutes to stretch my legs.
And yes, I have already decided to go back to Manila by plane. Ticket is 1500 Peso with Philippine Airline, and I pay 15000 to go by car. I can fly 10 times for the same price. Never mind, the plan was to go through the Philippine country side to see the views. But now I have seen enough of the views and it will be plane back to Manila. We had pasta and pizza at Shakey's. I had two mango shakes and I was full when we left.   Finally, more than 12 and a half hour after leaving Manila, at the hotel
We reached Donsol and my hotel more than 12 and a half hour we left Manila. We looked for a SIM card for me in Donsol and stop at Shakey's for food. But take the 520 km trip and divide it  with 11 and the average speed on the Pan Philippine Highway is not impressive.
But it was nice to check-in. I went to the bar to see what they had to offer. I already knew that they only had Coca Cola products. Kind of OK, no diet drinks for me. I asked for Mango juice and they would make fresh mango juice for me. 
I'm the only guest at the hotel, well, there is one more guest but he is leaving tomorrow. He had been out looking for whale sharks for two day. But he had not seen any whale sharks. Well, I hope for better luck. Of course, I was not happy to hear this. The weather, rain and strong winds and the food seems to be at the bottom. The divers see the whale sharks. But at this weather they are not at  the surface. Well, I have 3 days and I really hope to see at least one. Well, you just need to click HERE to find out! It will  HOPEFULLY get exciting!
