Wednesday 5th of March 2014 and I was late for my Thai school. We finished the boxing and I booked a taxi for the airport tomorrow morning and I did some other paper work preparing for
joining Roy Maersk before I
went for my shower. So I was 20 minutes late for my Thai school but we got right on with the ass
kicking. It was fun to study Thai and it was soon 15 thirty and time to leave.
I have been very lazy with the Thai studies while on my holiday. Well, I have been to school every day, but I have not done my own books or watched any of the time to Learn Thai with Mod and the
Alif Silpachai videos. I have downloaded more videos from YouTube and I will
hopefully watch them on board Roy Maersk.
But my daily studies at school and of course the boxing with my friend and I get some chance to practice Thai. I left school and I tried to find a taxi on Sukhumvit Soi 11. I had to stop several taxis before I found a taxi that wanted to go to the Thon Buri side. We were going to cross the river on Rama 8 Bridge and I was surprised when we arrived to Rama 8. Several roads were still blocked by People's Democratic Reform Committee, PDRC and Suthep Thaugsuban. I thought the OPERATION Shut down Bangkok had come to an end.
People’s Democratic Reform Committee, PDRC and Suthep Thaugsuban have moved to Lumpini and I think Silom is closed for traffic, but I'm not sure. But the trouble continues, reading in Bangkok Post about assaults and grenade attacks almost every day. Red shirts attacked, but I had expected Suthep Thaugsuban to have cleared the roads. So I was very surprised when we came down to Rama 8 and it looked like a war zone.

I had to ask the driver what it was when we passed the first barricade. It was far away down the street and I could not see what it was and it could as well be a work in progress. But it was People's Democratic Reform Committee and Suthep Thaugsuban blocking the roads. Well, we were soon leaving Bangkok behind and we were on the Rama 8 Bridge heading towards Thon Buri side.
We passed the bus station and the driver wanted me to call my friend for directions. The driver was obviously not taking my word for it. He called 2 times before he got it right, and as I had
said to him several times.
- Go straight!
He did u-turns and we lost some time, but we agreed at the end and we were soon at my friend's place.
I asked the drive to stop outside a shop. I had not been eating since early morning and I was hungry. They didn't have any Snickers so I bought some Oreos that I munched
on while walking to my friend's house. It was only my friend's wife and her friend at home when I arrived. My friend was at the market buying food. So I hanged around playing
mischiefs with their son while
waiting. Now he understand what we say to him and he will soon talk, he is starting but at least I can't understand what he is saying.
My friend was soon arriving and he started to prepare the food while I was on the soccer field. (Or was it the garbage dump? Jesus, Thai people just throw
the garbage where ever they stay, sit or lay down)
I was playing football with his son when he left for the store down the road. We joined him, maybe we could spot some beautiful girls on the way.

My friend was having a few neighbours coming over and he bought a bottle of Whiskey, there was Diet MAX for me so no problem. I was just staying for the food and I had to return home to pack
my bag. I borrowed my friend’s motorcycle
while he was cocking
and I went to explore the area. I passed a house and I saw something colourful in rolls, plastic or fabric? I went back to check it out and it turned out to be fabric, cotton 100%.
I asked if I could buy some of the fabric and I ended up ordering 7 shirts. There were 4 people making
Songkran shirts. Songkran is coming up in a month and a half and they are busy making shirts.
My friend called me.
- Where are you?
- I'm ordering shirts
- The food is ready
- I will be there in a jiff
They measured me and the shirts will be ready next week. I only had 200
Baht in cash so I had to drive back to my friend to borrow money from his wife.
I was soon back at the shop and I gave them 1500 Baht as down payment and my friend will pick up my shirts and pay the remaining money next week. And I will pay my friend when I'm back home as there is no ATM in the area.

By now I was in a hurry to get back to my friend's house for some food. The BBQ was ready and my friend had put salt on the table. He had obviously been eating with me before.
- I put salt on the table
- Great ( I should really give up the salt)
I was enjoying the BBQ while my friend started to prepare the ingredients for the fried rice. ANd he brought a JUMBO sized bag with yellow curry powder.
- Yes! That's the spirit!
I filled up the wok with food and I was surpeised and chocked when I learned that I was the only one eating fried rice.
- How the foock will I be able to finish all that food?
Two plates was OK, the food was delicious and I suggested that we should open a restaurant instead of a boxing gym. I took the last fried rice from the wok and I had to leave the most of the food on my third plate. Now I had gone from hungry to full in less than 10 minutes.
And I forced myself to eat most of the third plate because it was so good. Well, now it will ot be any more fried rice for a very long time. And I will prepare a new UPDATED diet bet as soon as I'm on board Roy Maersk.

My friend and his wife sent me to the highway where I took a taxi back home. I asked my friend for a ATM so I could give him money for the shirts, but he said I could give him the money when I was back home.
I stopped at my local 7 Eleven to buy 2 bottles of Diet MAX and I went back home to do my laundry and to pack my last stuff. I have booked a car for tomorrow morning at 09:45. 2 alarm clocks set to 08:00 and my friend will call me at 08:00 as a back-up wake up call.
Well, yet another holiday have come to an end, Hawaii, Manila, Ban Chang, starting Thai language school again and I have given up the party. And on top of all this the Whistle Revolution, not bad for 10 weeks. So it will be nice to join M/T Roy Maersk in Singapore tomorrow.
