Sunday 6th of October 2024 and the AOT limousine Service will pick me up at 5 thirty. I bought some pastries at Seacon Square yesterday and I had them for breakfast together with a mug of tea. OK, I feel much better after having had my “TUNA & ONION SURPRISE” ® for breakfast.
I did not feel so good after having munched down the pastries. Time turned quick and the driver called when I was packing the last things.
- I have arrived!
- OK, 5 minutes
I went down with my luggage and I threw my garbage on the way down. Time to leave and I will miss my scooter and I really hope it is ready when I come back home.
We left at 05:42 and we arrived to gate 6 at Suvarnabhumi exactly 30 minutes later. There were no people waiting to check-in and I went straight to the desk. Check in was completed in a couple of minutes and I went to security and immigration.
Security was quick even though they wanted to check my carry on.
- Do you have any liquid?
- No
She searched my bag and I was starting to wonder what she was looking for. I had my camera in the bag but she did not even bother to open the cases. But she found two bottles of e-liquid under my winter trousers.
I had forgot about them, but they were only 60ml each so it was no problem. But now the real problem started, I could not extend the handle to my Samsonite. We remember when I was flying last time and the driver helped me with the luggage and he managed to destroy the handle?
Well, I cannot blame him, he got his tip. He was only helpful. But today the wheeled unit gave up totally. I had managed to get the handle in and out, not without problem.
I went to Singapore Airlines lounge to see if I could get it to work by the help of knife, fork and a spoon. The tools I was thinking off coming to the lounge.
Check-in almost empty
Going to the security and immigration
I asked the girl in the reception for a plaster (I cut my finger cleaning the apartment yesterday) and I asked for a Samsonite shop. She told me that there was a shop and I left the lounge.
No samsonite shop, but there was another shop and they had Tumi, never heard of it. But I found one bag abd it was the same size as my Samsonite so I bought it.
- 29000฿
I almost shat myself, but I need to have a working bag. And I will never buy anything Samsonite again, this one is about 1 years old and have already capsized and sunk.
And to buy a new unit on the airport is not cheap, yeah, tax free, my arse. It is tax free but that only means that the shop owners don't have to pay tax. It is cheaper to buy on town and if you get a “Tax free for tourists” it is way cheaper.
But I really appreciated that they had wheeled carry-on luggage available on the airport, never mind the price. Without the bag it would have been a disaster carry around my luggage.
I was not happy about 900 US $ for the bag, but it was a very nice bag and I was happy to have it. Much better than Samsonite and this Tumi will be my brand for the future. Same size but I could pack much more in the bag, and it was possible to extend if it is required.

Walking back to the lounge and one guy walked past me, he was rolling along a wheeled carry on. Making a lot of noise from his wheels and I was happy to have spent a little extra on the quality, my bag did not make any sound at all.
I had time for half a soda water in the lounge before I went to board flight AI 333 to New Delhi. Biz was full so I had to sit next to a guy from Japan. He was sleeping and next to me was a guy and his wife, Indian descent but living in Los Angeles and US citizen.
- Do you like Trump? He asked
He could see my MAGA cap and he told me that he supported Trump
- You must be the only one in Los Angeles, I said
We started to talk about India and I asked if he had been to any safaris. He had not and I told him to take the opportunity now when he was in India.
When the Japanese guy woke up, he told me that he had heard us talking about safari and he showed me pictures from Gir National Park where I had been, well, almost 10 years ago.
The flight passed very quickly and we landed in New Delhi as per schedule. I found the lounge and I was surprised, almost as good as the lounge in Bombay. Bombay, best airport and star alliance lounge I have ever been to.
I was very surprised to discover the lounge, Encalm Prive Lounge, last time I was in New Delhi the lounge was not much more than a road site food stall.

And there are sweets
But I could not really enjoy my time here as I was very angry. arriving to New Delhi and there was another security check before we could get in to the departure lounge. And they took e-cigarettes worth 250 US $ and I was not happy.
They did not say anything in Bangkok. I come with Air India and I depart with Air India. They called an airline representative.
- It is not the airline, it is the airport, he explained.
I made a mental note not to fly via India again. Air India is a very nice airline, friendly staff and the lounges, second to none (Since they opened the new one here in New Delhi)
But now it will not be Air India anymore. I had a great help from the staff in the Encalm Prive Lounge to cancel my return ticket from Copenhagen to Bangkok. I will fly to Brazil for a couple of days bird watching before I join m/t Nord Swift.
So, I was really grateful for their service in the lounge, as I have said, their lounges and service are second to none. But if they confiscate e-cigarettes at the airport. Dangerous goods not allowed on the airport.
- How is it dangerous if I remove the batteries?
Anyway, Indian airports, I come down from the lounge and there is a golf cart.
- What gate? The driver asks.
- 24
- OH! Thats at the far end, get on and we will be there in a jiff
Golf cart service
Golf cart service
Bombay, so far to walk from the gates, every time I arrive, they take me to immigration in a golf cart. Try to limp a bit and they stop with screamin' and smokin' tyres.
- You want a ride?
So, I am really not happy to have to skip India in the future, no vape, no flight to India. I have been to many safaris in India, and I would not mind to go again. But now, nah, then I go to a place where I can bring my vape.
I get off at gate 24 and I said thank you and it was time to board. We were told to sit down again, some problem and we had to wait for 10 to 15 minutes.

I take my seat and I had been told that biz is full so I expected someone to sit next to me on Air Indias flight AI 157 to Copenhagen. Aisle seat as I always ask for. I prefer window if the aisle seat is empty.
Otherwise, it is in the aisle and I have a feeling of being able to move around as I want.
PA announcement: Boarding completed, get ready to get the hell out of here!
I was surprised, 3 empty seats in BIZ and I moved to the window. The stewardess told me that the seat was not working.
- Never mind!
I will be alone, great! same last time on Thai Airways, BIZ was full but the seat next to me was not working so I was alone and the flight passed by like a joy.
We were soon airborne and I got some Earl Grey tea and they brought two more cups for the dinner. The food was very good and I was happy as I had not had any time to enjoy any food in the lounge. Well, might have turned out good for my diet.
Enjoying my tea
It was a nice flight and we landed din Copenhagen around 20 minutes before 7 o'clock in the evening and I was in my hotel room an hour later. And that is even though there was a million EU citizen in line to the immigration.
Of course, only two boots open so it took some time. But I did not have to wait for my luggage so I could leave the terminal immediately. And I used the luggage trolley all the way to the hotel, very convenient.
Air India update: They had Diet Coke, not Diet Pepsi. They had normal Pepsi, but this is nothing I want to drink. diet Pepsi was one of the reasons for me to choose Air India. But the tea was very good. And I am sure the tea is a healthier alternative. So, if they give up the nonsense about the vapes on the Indian airports I would happily come back again.
My luggage arrived in good condition
Of course, I bought some refreshments before leaving the terminal. I bought some sandwiches at the hotel and I enjoyed a picnic styled dinner in my room before I went to bed.
Leaving for Sweden tomorrow morning and I will pick up my rented car at AVIS. It is 350 + kilometres to the ferry that will take me to Käringön. I will make a stop to pick up 2 kilo of Göta Kanal tea when passing Halmstad
And of course, I need to look for new e-cigarettes, so I will be busy. Click HERE to find out if I make it to Käringön and my training at Sjöfartsakademin - STCW course Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boat. This promise to be an adventure.
OK, it has come to my knowledge that we have senior citizens visiting my web page. How hard can it be? So it's not very easy for them to see the blue coloured links to the next page.
