The Crimson-crowned fruit dove (Ptilinopus porphyraceus), is a species of bird in the family Columbidae. It is found in American Samoa, Fiji, Marshall Islands, Niue, Samoa, Tonga, and Wallis and Futuna Islands. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical mangrove forests.

It is found in American Samoa, Fiji, Marshall Islands, Niue, Samoa, Tonga, and Wallis and Futuna Islands.
Taxonomy and systematics
The crimson-crowned fruit dove has two remaining sub-species:
• Ptilinopus porphyraceus porphyraceus (Temminck, 1821) - Niue, Tonga and Fiji Islands
• Ptilinopus porphyraceus fasciatus Peale, 1848 - Samoa
Two former subspecies were reclassified as separate species in 2016:
• Ptilinopus porphyraceus ponapensis Finsch, 1878 is now the purple-capped fruit dove (P. ponapensis)
• Ptilinopus porphyraceus ponapensis Finsch, 1880 is now the Kosrae fruit dove (P. hernsheimi)
