Sunday 1st of January and there was no “bubbly” Pepsi MAX, but I had have enough tea and sparkling water to last me for a while. The clock was soon past midnight and I could not help wondering: Wått's dö madderfakking diil?
We have to work so it was soon time to go to bed. I left the bridge 15 or 20 minutes after midnight. Soon time to wake up again.
We had 4 hours to go to G:oteborg pilot area when I came on my watch at 8 o'clock in the morning. We don't need any Pilot in Gothenburg so no need to call the pilots. I enjoyed a kind of a nice morning. Cloudy but it was a nice weather. We have had bad news, all the delays have turned in to a very short turn around here in G:oteborg. Will my reliever make it here in time? Our captain called him but he didn't wanted to come. It was too early.
We will leave in time so I can make it in time (touch and go) from Oulu so I will stay. Then we got new e-mail and a phone call. We will load one by one and the gasoline 98 is not ready. So I might make it in time here. I really don't fancy sitting in Helsingborg waiting for my flight for several days. So I know exactly nothing, going home or not. We will have to wait until we get the Loading Master on board in G:oteborg, maybe they know something.
Our Captain wanted me to take pictures of some ships in Skarvikshamnen when we passed the jetty. I told him that we need him on picture as well. I sent him some pictures yesterday as he must have one of the most boring Facebook pages in the world. I told him that now he had some pictures to put on his face.

All fast at Jetty 511 in Skarvikshamnen
We had soon all fast and as soon as the Loading Master came on board I knew that I won't be able to sign off here. And it will be too late to sign off in Oulu. No seats available on the flight on the 7th or 8th of January.
A few days extra and no more Diet MAX on board. Captain would buy for me if he is going ashore. But it was a good start of the New Year. I found a “bonus” bottle of Diet MAX when I was preparing to pack my bags. And it was not a small bottle, it was a 1,5 L bottle. Signs of good things coming my way in the year of 2017? Finally I say!
+++++++++++++++
Monday 2nd of January 2017 and we have put all the holidays behind us, nice! And it was a gorgeous morning, blue sky and sunshine, for sure nothing we're used to here in G:oteborg. And we have not been loading as quickly as they had said. No surprise there! Signing off or not here? I already knew that I will stay until Oulu and by then I would have missed my flight.
I reminded Captain about Simrishamn and today everything is clear for me to sign off in Simrishamn when we pass there tomorrow evening. So I will have 3 night on a hotel before I can fly home. Not good, but better than to miss the flight and the Bali adventure. All seats are full to Bangkok from Copenhagen before and after my departure date.
I decided to stay 3 nights in Simrishamn instead of in Helsingborg. Elite Marina Plaza in Helsingborg, best breakfast in the world. But the only reason for me wanting to stay in Helsingborg is the spring rolls at Österns Pärla. I think I have stayed at this hotel in Simrishamn before. Hotel Svea, when I signed off CT Star many years ago. I had liked it and I don't need to go to Helsingborg with all my luggage. Now I will go straight form here to Copenhagen International.
Simrishamn is a small town so I will have plenty time to explore the town. And there are plenty trains to Helsingborg if I want to go have spring rolls at Österns Pärla.

Tuesday 3rd of January 2017 and we were approaching Fermhan Belt when I came on the bridge 10 minutes to 8 o'clock in the morning. We had just lef Great Belt behind and I had crossing traffic from port side going to the Kiel Canal. I passed Rødby and Puttgarden and there were plenty ferries crossing. But no problem.
We have had some unbelievable good weather in G:oteborg yesterday. Today it was gloom and grey for long as we could see. The wind is also picking up so I'm worried about the crew change to night at Bornholm Strait.
My reliever will come out in a small boat and I will come ashore with the same boat. Well, we will see how this ends up.
I got an e-mail from the hotel in Simrishamn. Hotel Svea and I had sent a request to them yesterday. I will arrive and I asked them to put Pepsi MAX in my room as I will arrive very late in the night.
Hej Aladdin,
Tack för ditt mejl och bokning.
Vi har köpt 2st 1,5liters Pepsi Max till dig och satt in på rummet.
I try to translate:
Hi Aladdin;
Thanks for your e-mail and booking.
We have bought 2 1.5 L bottles of Pepsi MAX and put it in your room
Good service, and they will also look in to so I get enough pillows in my bed. Singapore Airlines, all talk about good, no excellent service, but when it comes to a simple request as to have a few Pepsi MAX on the flight it is too much. They could not arrange Pepsi MAX for me and my answer, let’s not get in to it in details. But I mentioned that I would keep this in mind next time I will book a ticket. Anyway, to get a few bottles of Pepsi MAX on board should not be all that hard.
Anyway, I look forward to a few days at Hotel Svea in Simrishamn. And if the weather allows it I will explore the beautiful town Simrishamn. Of course, a trip to Helsingborg and Österns Pärla for some spring rolls. And I might buy some more MBT shoes.
I prepared my stuff and I was ready in time for dinner and then the last 30 minutes filf about African wildlife with the crew before the news. Pretty much the same routines as everyday since I joined the ship. So the same to day for the last time.
We were entering Bornholmsgattet TSS when I came on watch. ETA to Skillinge 21:50 and it was blowing very strong winds. Huge waves coming in to Bornholmsgattet TSS. But we would cross the TSS and come up close to Skilling harbour. Skåne will give us lee and the waves will hopefully disappear. I have been worried about the weather all day.
I want to get off the ship. The forecast says very strong winds and at the end of the week, high pressure and very cold. 25°C below zero. Yes! 25°C BELOW ZERO! So yes, I really want to get off the ship and fly back home for my trip to Bali.
The winter have hit us full force and I was so happy to leave, this is the reason I work in Asia. And the forecast really got me worried. They were even talking about an upcoming snow catastrophe, for sure nothing I wanted to experience.
Will I be able to get off tonight?
We changed course to cross the TSS in a 90° angle 10 minutes before 9 o'clock in the evening. And we had very rough sea. We were steering towards Skillinge and we had the sea pounding our port side.
We had water spraying over the deck and it was looking very bad. But I tried to keep up the spirit. As I told Captain: The people in the boat have been living here for generations and they know exactly in what kind of weather they can go out in.
We are coming up in Bornholmsgattet TSS between Skåne and the Danish island Bornholm
We had about 50 minutes to go when we crossed the TSS and the waves became smaller as we approached the coast of Skåne. We were soon having radio contact with the boat and they wanted to come out to us. We told them to stay and we would be in his position in about 30 minutes. And the closer we came to the coast the less I was worried about coming off the ship.
I left the bridge and the AB on watch and our Chief Engineer was waiting in the duty mess. I got dressed in my fur hat and Polar Bear parkas and we were soon on deck waiting for the boat. As soon as we changed course towards North the sea looked as a windmill pond on our starboard side. I was by then very relaxed as I was sure that I would sleep in my hotel room.
Our Chief Engineer wanted to join us when we left for deck but I told him that it would be too cold as he was only wearing shorts. But when the boat came he and our 2nd Engineer came on deck. We had a picture before the boat came alongside.
The on signing Chief Officer was soon on deck and I went down the pilot ladder and we were soon leaving m/t Ternholm behind. On signing Chief Officer's brother was on the boat and he will drive me to Svea Hotel in Simrishamn some 10 km north of Skillinge.

OK, it has come to my knowledge that we have senior citizens visiting my web page. How hard can it be? So it's not very easy for them to see the blue coloured links to the next page.
