Sunday 25th of June 2017 and the driver came to pick me up at 6 o'clock outside Holiday Inn Express. My plan is to stop at Taman Tasik Ampang Hilir on the way to IsiRimba and if I have the time I will go to FRIM wetlands.
The driver had brought her daughter and she will drop her in their village. She is obviously confused, we're not going to pass their village. She thought we were going to the island today. NO! We're going to do a day of bird watching. Well, when I booked the car I had not even arrived to Kuala Lumpur, we decided to do this tour while on the way to Kuala Lumpur from the airport. I didn't knew that it would be too dark for birding at this time.
So it was pitch dark when we arrived to Taman Tasik Ampang Hilir and I told the driver that we would go to drop her daughter. I told her that we would come back here on the way back to the hotel after IsiRimba. But there must have been a misunderstanding as we were back here again. It was pouring down and we were sitting in the car outside the gate.
- I cannot hear any birds, the driver said.
- They don't like the rain, I said.
The rain turned in to a drizzle and I could hear the bird starting to sing. I left the camera in the car and I went out to have a look in the park. I found this park on the internet, a blog by a guy named Mike. https://mikebirder.blogspot.my/ and he had seen a Black-backed Kingfisher ( Oriental Dwarf) in the park.
I didn't see any Kingfisher, but I can confirm that there is at least a White-throated Kingfisher flying around as I could hear the bird. I saw Pond herons flying around but as it was raining I went back to the car.
Waiting for my driver outside the hotel

I told the driver to go to IsiRimba to see if we have any luck there. So we left Taman Tasik Ampang Hilir behind and you only need to click HERE to find out about IsiRimba and the bird life in that area. Will the weather allow me to get out of the car? After the mishap with my camera in the rain in Chiang Mai I'm more carefully in the rain.
OK, it has come to my knowledge that we have senior citizens visiting my web page. How hard can it be? So it's not very easy for them to see the blue coloured links to the next page.
