Saturday 7th of April 2018 and I went out on the parking lot after my breakfast. The driver was waiting for me and we left Hotel Yak and Yeti bound for the forest around the Gokarna Forest Resort. I will go to Bhaktapur and the Cattle Egret tree at the Indrayani Temple in the afternoon.
It was a gloomy and grey morning and it looked to be raining any second. It took us almost an hour to reach the Gokarna Forest Resort. A resort with a huge golf course, but there is a forest surrounding the area, and this is what I was interested in. The road through Kathmandu was at least to say in a very poor condition.
The road leaves a lot to wish for

Leaving the car and hotel behind
We reached the small road going up the mountain/ hill. You drive up for 5 minutes and you reach the hotel and there was a big parking area. We parked the car and I told my driver that I would be back in 2 or 3 hours. Walking away from the hotel and you are reaching a big lawn, cross the lawn and you reach a sign saying rest room.
There is a small walk path going down the hill. I spotted a Grey-hooded Warbler, well, there were several of them in the trees. And they were jumping around with food in their mouth. And they were calling/ singing all the time. I thought it was food for their babies.
But they were jumping between the same branches all the time calling so I suspect that it was some kind of breeding call trying to impress the future mate with the food carried in the mouth.
The forest was full of the Grey-headed Warbler. And all of them had food in their bill. I saw the bird in all the places I visited in the Kathmandu Valley. And all the same, with food in their mouth.
And it was not food for any babies as the bird was jumping between the same branches all the time, so my guess is that it was a breeding call for a mate and the food was to impress a future mate
April and it was almost impossible to make recordings in Nepal due to the Blue-throated Barbet that we can hear on the recording, going on and on
There were, only heard not seen, the Common Cuckoo and Coppersmith Barbets. The Blue-throated Barbet was heard all over the forest, and they are really loud so they made it next to impossible to make any sound recordings with my ZOOM H5 Handy Recorder. There are a few big trees on the lawn before you reach the walk path. There were Blue-throated Barbets calling out from the tree tops. Actually, you can hear the Blue-throated Barbets all over the forest calling out.
There were of course several Mynas and the Rose-ringed Parakeet. Walking along the edge you are in eye level with the mid and top canopy of the trees on the mountain side down to the golf court.
There were several Black Kites flying over the golf court and I discovered that they were coming to land in a tree next to the hotel. I tried to get a picture as they landed in the same tree all the time. But they were covered by branches so I never got any pictures. They landed in the same tree, and every time they mad a call, so I tried to get a recording with my ZOOM H5. But I never got any sound recording.
Time turned quickly, I could easily have spent several hours here as there was a lot of forest, but I really wanted to get to the Cattle Egret tree at the Indrayani Temple in Bhaktapur. So we returned to Hotel Yak and Yeti. I had my lunch and I rented a car with driver at the hotel and I was soon on the way to the Indrayani Temple in Bhaktapur.
So how to find the Indrayani Temple in Bhaktapur? Of course, you can always have my birding map over the Kathmandu Valley. If not, you drive to Bhaktapur on Highway H03 from Kathmandu. Now your on the Nagarkot Road passing the Chonga Ganesh Temple. Drive carefully, just after the temple you have to turn right, but your still on the Nagarkot Road.
Keep right when you reach the tourist bus parking in Bhaktapur and turn right just before the ticket office. You don't need any ticket to get to the Indrayani Temple and the Cattle Egret Tree. And you can see the tree full of egrets from when you turn right. You can park the car at the small temple and it is just a very few meters to walk.
What a fantastic place this was, one hour disappeared like an aspirin. BOOM! And it was time to leave. I even helped the birds collecting sticks for them. And when the collecting got in to climbing the hill I gave 2 children 100 Rupees to help me.
It was time to return to Hotel Yak and Yeti and we will stop at a Supermarket to see if we can find Diet Pepsi on bottles. What a beautiful day I have had! Just wish I could be here in a few weeks when they have their babies.
We stopped at a Superm...., well, it was a shop, and they didn't had Diet Pepsi on bottles. But they had Pepsi MAX on cans. But they call Pepsi MAX for BLACK.
I had a dinner down at the Thamel area and I walked around the streets for some hours trying to see if I recognised something from when I was here 25 years ago. Well, going to bed early and my bird watching guide and driver will be here to pick me up at 7 o'clock tomorrow morning.
General election in Sweden September 2018. Sweden is already beyond rescue and this is most likely the last free election in Sweden. They are already changing the “Free speech” laws in Sweden. Censorship and it only show how desperate they are to keep the population in the dark, as by now they have (must have) realised how they have destroyed what might have once been the best country in the world.
State media blasting 24/7 on how well Sweden is doing when it is obvious for everyone how health care, education system, police, judicial system and the welfare state have collapsed. People are afraid to walk the streets, females are scared of getting raped. The Swedish feminists are cheering on.
You would think the feminists would be working against the developments in Sweden. But no! The feminists were out calling demonstrators, demonstrating against immigrants that had gang raped a woman in wheelchair. Yes, the feminists came and called the protestors for, what do you think? Nazis and racists!!! You can't make this shit up. Sweden really have got everything they deserve. The only thing driving the Swedish feminists is the hate of the white man.
Where it is now allowed to be married to children, rape is a normal thing that the Police don’t even investigate thanks to the world’s first feminist government. What a sad joke this country have turned in to.
Well, and everything he says is true
