Aladdin's adventure on board M/T Roy Mærsk/ Roy Maersk

Friday 1st of September 2017 and I wake up to a new month, tired as we had advanced the ship's time by an hour during the night. Tanjung Pelepas on Saturday evening, discharging, STS with FSU Jade Palm. We will load in Tanjung Pelepas for New Mangalore in India.

Another STS operation and I will Yet another Smiley on www.aladdin.st hopefully sign off there. We started the day with the Good Morning Gymnastics© and we got straight on with the tool box/ safety meeting when we were ready. We also do a daily study of the “Learning Engagement Tool - Enclosed spaces” and we go through some other safety alerts as well. Just to remind the boys on how important it is to think before we do anything that have a potential to end up in a disaster..

We have plenty to do so it promise to be an exciting day here on board m/t Roy Mærsk. The crew will wash the superstructure and deck. And our “extra” Painters will do some chipping and painting.

I sent the Painters on deck after the tool box/ safety meeting and the remaining of the crew stayed behind. Washing on deck and I had another tool box/ safety meeting. We studied safety alert 05/2016 chemical burns and we walked through the risk assessment. I showed the crew my arms and legs, burned by chemicals when I was a young and handsome O/S.

I could not believe my eyes, our O/S disappeared during the tool box/ safety meeting. Important information was missed and he had to read the Risk Assessment and the safety alert out loud for the crew. But first he had to be punished, and what is better than some Good Morning Spanking© excitements? The crew lined up in the CCR and our O/S was bending over.

We finished the tool box/ safety meeting and we went to demonstrate the torch wrenches for our mooring winches before the crew started the washing. So now the crew should know how to use the Torch wrench on board Roy Maersktorch wrenches. When they started with the washing our Cadet and I started to go through our personal gas detectors.

I made a requisition for two ned GX-2009 gas detectors. And our Cadet was Yet another Smiley on www.aladdin.st hopefully learning a thing or two about changing sensors and testing gas detectors. Time turned really quickly and it was soon time to go for lunch.

Now we only need to test the detector

We had so much to do during the day I never found the time to do my discharge plan. So I will have to do it tomorrow. And tank cleaning plan is required as we will do a tank cleaning after discharging. And of course, as we arrive tomorrow night, we will do the pre-arrival test and checks. So yes, it looks to be yet another exciting day here on board Roy Mærsk.

And the evening movie, my choice so it promise to be a good one. And no one was disappointed, it was finished in 15 minutes. The Swiss Army Man, seriously, how can they get people to participate in drivel like that. Anyway, it was over in 15 minutes. And yes, I was in charge over the remote control and it was all smiles when the sh** came to an end.

and we started to discharge at 02:12 By that time my reliever had come on board. I was in bed at 3 thirty. Having a hard time fall asleep so I was tired when my alarm went off at 10 o'clock. A cup of tea and an Oatmeal Surprise before I called the CCR. I had expected us to be ready around this time. But we have slowed down as we were waiting for a Vetting Inspector.

I rushed down to the CCR to prepare. I called our Pump Man to send him on deck for the vetting routines. But the Vetting Inspector came on board at 11 so not much time.

We were discharging slow speed as the Vetting must be during discharging. So we took off to deck 3 minutes after the inspector had come on board.

We completed discharging at 1 o'clock and Pilot was ordered for 16 thirty. Then 17 hundred and it was 8 o'clock in the evening before the Pilot came on board. We left 8 thirty and I went to bed as I will have to wake up early tomorrow morning to start the tank cleaning at the East OPL anchorage. Promise to be yet another exciting day here on m/t Roy Mærsk.

and we were heaving up the anchor when I came in to the CCR 5 minutes before 8 o'clock in the morning. We will be in Singapore to drop the anchor around 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Our new Chief Officer started to prepare his loading plan. The Chief Engineer, the one I worked with on Rosa Mærsk will arrive in the afternoon. If we can sign off at the terminal we will leave when we're ready with the loading.

Otherwise I will leave in the evening. Anyway, I showed the new Chief Officer the ODME equipment in the engine room. And of course, we took the opportunity to get some SPY CAM action SPY CAM actionsneaking in to the ECR.

The Engineers looked to have a good time and our new Chief Officer and I were soon on our way deep down in to the engine room. We looked at the ODME equipment and we were soon back to the CCR to test the ODME.

Everything worked well and the new Chief Officer continued with his loading plan. I got the news that I will leave tonight so I went to pack my bag. Well, now it is just to wait, our 2nd Engineer is going to the doctor and when he come back tonight I will take the same boat ashore. A night at the hotel and a flight back home tomorrow afternoon.

Last dinner with the crew and I spent the evening in my cabin preparing my bags and I hope to be off at 10 or 11 o'clock tonight and at the hotel around 1 o'clock.

I had my last dinner on board and I went to complete the packings. And I watched a little on a TV series, but I was soon grooving tired and went back to the CCR. Time was passing kind of slowly while waiting for the 2nd Engineer to come back.

Time to sign off

I was kind of surprised, at 9 o'clock I got an SMS from the 2nd Engineer. He was on the service launch and he was on the way back to the ship.
- That was quick!
I left my cabin and I ran in to our 2nd Engineer on deck. The boat was waiting for me and I climbed down to the service launch. 9 thirty, way earlier than expected and I was in an excellent mood. Tonga and the Humpback whales next. Well, a stop in Singapore first and a few days at home before it is time to leave Bangkok again.

I called my friend, ปีศาจแดง ก.กุมานนท์, Red Devil to tell him that I would be at the Chaiyasit ปีศาจแดง ก.กุมานนท์, Red Devil - Chaiyasit Muay Thai GymMuay Thai Gym and I realised that I had no clue on what day it was. But I told him that I would show up on the day after tomorrow. Later on I checked the calendar and it will be on Thursday.

Now I just hope we can manage to stay away from the coffee shop when we buy fruits so I can have my V-shaped torso when I go to swim with the humpback whales. And not an “UP SIDE DOWN” V as the 4th Engineer on Roy Maersk said.

Wednesday 6th of September 2017
and my alarm went off at 7. I was dead tired, impossible to fall asleep in the bed. I was very very tired but I just couldn't fall asleep.

I went for breakfast and I kept Bangkok updated with my every move via Line. I started by taking a taxi to Sim Lim, but they were closed, not opening until 10 thirty. I took a taxi to Orchard Road just to find that everything was closed. I had a cup of tea and I went to look around, but they didn't had what I wanted so I took a taxi back to Sim Lim

Not what I wanted to have so I took a taxi back to the hotel. I asked if there was any messages to me regarding transport to the airport. No messages and I asked if I could have a late check-out as I wanted to leave for the airport at 1 o'clock.

When I came down to the reception after my lunch they told me that there was a driver waiting for me. He had orders to pick me up at 12 o'clock but no messages for me. I went to my room and we left the hotel 20 minutes before 1 o'clock.

Changi International Airport, Singapore
Travel pillows at Singapore tax free shop

I had been through the trouble to attach shoestrings to my travel pillows so I can tie the pillow together under the chin. But here, someone had obviously been stealing my idea, they sold pillows with buttons. But they were not inflatable so I will stick with my “home-made” pillow. Takes less space in the luggage.

Well, I had asked them to block the seat next to me when I checked in and they would do everything they could to leave the seat next to me empty. I asked if the seat next to me was empty when we boarded, and yes! I will sit alone on Thai Airways flight TG 414 to Bangkok. I will drink Earl Grey tea and enjoy myself.

I secured my back pack in the seat next to me and I took the window seat. The Stewardess was soon coming to ask about my dinner wishes. I chose the cod fish.
- What to drink?
- Please bring a bottle of water
- For the meal?
- Earl Grey tea
- No alcohol?
- No, Earl Grey tea all the way. Keep the mugs coming
(I had confirmed that they had the big size tea mugs on board)
- OH! Same as me, I like Earl Grey tea

A day in Singapore

Thai Airways flight TG 414 from Singapore to Bangkok
We arrive to Suvarnabhumi, and I knew we had to go to the terminal by bus

I had a pleasant flight and looking out the window at Suvarnabhumi and I knew that we had to take a bus to the terminal. Good, no need to trot around as the bus will take us straight to the immigration. And I was surprised, we have read about the queues to the Immigration in the Bangkok Post the last few weeks. People fainting and pissing themselves while waiting for 5 hours, but now it was empty. I have never seen so few passengers before. No people at the immigration.

It was almost like a ghost town. Not one single passenger waiting at the immigration. Only our flight and the PRIORITY LINE voucher was all for nothing. Arrival hall, was almost empty as well.

Lost and found was just next to the luggage carousels #6 so I picked up my camera while waiting for my luggage. A few minutes later and BOOM! I was in the taxi on my way home.

No time for bird watching in Bangkok and I was bored after just a day. I booked a trip to Borneo to go look for birds and other wild life, especially the orangutans. Borneo for bird watching next. Just click HERE to find out if I spotted any exotic birds.
