Flying back to Bangkok

Saturday 28th of January 2017 and I got out of bed around 9 o'clock. I had have my alarm clock to go off every 10 minutes since my wake-up call at 05:50. I had tea and Tuna Paella for Century Park Hotel in Manilabreakfast in my room. I was in the reception 10 minutes before 11 to sign the bill and we left the hotel at 11 fifteen or something like that.

Quite light traffic, Saturday morning, or as my driver thought. It was Chinese New Year, anyway, we made it to the airport in 30 minutes or so. I was not happy to see the lines of people lining up to get in to the terminal.

20 meters and I saw the entrance behind me and there was no line. I took a chance and I went over to check it out, maybe it was an entrance for officials and staff. I was lucky and I had Ninoy Aquino International Airport - Terminal 3passed the security in 23 seconds instead of spending 30 minutes in the other line.

The airport was brimmed with people and I was for sure happy that I was not flying with ANA to Japan. And is seemed like they were operating the flight with a super jumbo as there were millions of people lining up to check in. Singapore Airlines was around the corner, there were also many people, but the business class was empty so I had checked in, passed immigration and security in Ninoy Aquino International Airport - SilverKris Loungeless than 5.

I was soon in the SilverKris lounge with two cups of Earl Grey tea in front of me.

Almost one and a half hour to kill before it is time to board Singapore Airlines flight SQ 917 to Singapore. I had 6 cups of tea and it was soon time to board the flight. Will be nice to come home to spend 3 days in Bangkok before flying to Chittagong on the 1st of February. And who knows? Maybe there will be time for some birding.

There were many people waiting at the gate, but they had sections for each boarding group for the passengers to wait in. Very nice, first time I see this. Mostly it turns in to pandemonium when the boarding starts at airports around the world. But here it worked just fine and I was soon in my seat with a bottle of water.

We taxi out to the runway passing all the terminals at Ninoy Aquino International Airport. It was raining and gloom and grey for as long as I could see. Taking off and I started a movie while Manila disappeared behind us.

Arriving to Singapore

One movie and I started a second movie and we arrived to Singapore. The food was good and the Yet another Smiley on www.aladdin.stEarl Grey tea was good and I had a steady stream of tea coming to my seat. One of the Stewardesses called me her teddy bear and kept on hugging me every time I got out of my seat, yes, you can't make up stuff like this.

But I had a discussion with one of the Stewardesses about the skills of the pilots up front. Just before 5 and they told us that we would be delayed and we would not land before 18:10. And boarding for Singapore Airlines flight SQ 978 to Bangkok was at 18:15. Anyway, we had an hour to go and I went to the bathroom and I was told to sit down as we were soon going to land.
Yet another Smiley on www.aladdin.st - What the Yet another Smiley on www.aladdin.st They said 18:10, one hour to go
- No, we will land in 17 minutes
- How are they calculating speed and distance up front?

We landed at 17:35, 35 minutes before their calculated ETA so I really don't know what they are doing up front. 35 minutes difference is OK on a 12 hour flight, but it is a huge miscalculation when it is 1 hour to go.

I had to kill 30 minutes at Changi International Terminal 2 before it was time to board flight SQ 978 to Bangkok, and I was the first passenger to board the flight. The seats was a model I had never seen before but they were quite comfy.

I finished the movie I had started on the flight to Singapore and I finished another movie and we arrived to Bangkok. The food had been good and I was full so no need to go to eat anything when I'm back home. Priority line and I was through immigration in a jiff. I passed the other immigration on my way to belt 10 to pick up my new Samsonite. The immigration was full and I was really happy that I had had the priority pass.
