Siriraj Hospital and Museum

Siriraj Hospital, originally called Wang Lang Hospital, is the first royal hospital in the country. King Rama V had to build to serve general members of the public when the era of modern medicine made its way to Thailand. Siriraj medical museums were built to serve medical students and members of the public.

To get there: Take Chao Phraya Tourist Boat at Wang Lang Pier. Exit the pier and walk straight ahead through market area to Phrannok Road and Proceed about 10 m. to entrance of Siriraj Hospital on your right. Museum is open 09:00 a.m. 04:00 p.m. Monday Saturday. Admission fee 40 Baht.

Patravadi Theatre

The open air playhouse located on the western side of the Chao Phraya River opposite the Grand Palace and adjacent to the royal temple of Wat Rakang. Patravadi Theatre produces plays in Thai based on poems from the countrys own rich literary heritage. Performances meld Thai classic and folk techniques together with international elements to create and entirely new type of contemporary Thai theatre. It also provides training classes of Thai performances for adults and children.

To get there: Exit Wang Lang Pier go straight ahead through market area then turn left and walk about 200 m. along small lane which will bear left then right with theatre and restaurants at the corner.

Supatra River House

Supatra River House

This two-storey traditional Thai House on the banks of the Chao Phraya River near the temple the Dawn is a little piece of Thai history. It was formerly the home of Khunying Supatra Singholaga, who in addition to being a successful business lady was a leading advocate of womens rights in Thai society. In her memory, and to open up this beautiful property and its river frontage to the public, the house has been converted into a first-class restaurant and dinner theatre. Here guests can relax in formal surroundings and enjoy the very best in Thai Cuisine, particularly the fresh seafood dishes. Here you are amongst friends, for this is still very much a family house run in the traditional Thai way. The d?cor is modern furnishings for the comfort of all our guest. In the daytime there is the shade of the trees and the cool river breezes, while in the evening you can watch the sun setting and the lights coming on across the water in the Grand Palace.

To get there: Exit Wang Lang pier. Turn left and walk 200 m. along small lane. Turn left to Supatra River House.
