Phra Sumane fort
Phra Sumane Fort is a hexagonal-shaped concrete structure, topped with a pointed roof. At the beginning of the Rattanakosin period (1782) they were 14 forts along the city limits. Today, only 2 fort remain Phra Sumane Fort was partly destroyed during King Rama V-VIII (1868-1934). The Fine Arts department repaired and restored it in 1959 and again in 1981.
To get there: Exit Chao Phraya Tourist Boat at Phra Athit Pier. Exit pier and walk short distance to Phra Arthit Road. Turn left and follow Phra Arthit Road to nearby Phra Sumane Fort on your left. |
Banglumpoo
The original feature of this lively commercial place was simply a small marketplace serving a community around Wat Chana Songkram. All types of traders ranging from street vendors, hawkers, stalls, and retailers to department stores are selling all kinds of goods and foods here.
To get there: Follow directions to Khao San road and explore adjacent sois and shops.
