Wednesday 4th of February 2015 and I left Sukhumvit Subway station 10 minutes after 6 o'clock. I was going to Sam Yan subway station to meet my friend. The Sam Yan station is just at the
Wat Hua Lamphong

(Thai: วัดหัวลำโพง) is a Royal Buddhist temple, third class, in the Bang Rak District of Bangkok, Thailand.

It is located on Rama IV Road, with Si Lom Road and Suriwong Road in Bangkok's modern business district to the southeast, and Si Phraya Road to the northwest. It is a block from The Montien hotel, and approximately 1 km from the city's main Hua Lamphong railway station. An entrance to Sam Yan Station on the Bangkok metro is located outside the main entrance to the temple compound on Rama IV road.
entrance to Wat Hua Lamphong.

I arrived a few minutes after leaving the Sukhumvit station. I called my friend and she was on the Subway. She works in Lad Prao so it will take some time for her to arrive. So I was standing at exit #1 waiting for her. And there is a tunnel under Rama 4 to Chula University so I was standing there looking at the Thai Funeral at Wat Hua Lamphong (วัดหัวลำโพง)female students coming from the Yet another Smiley on www.aladdin.stuniversity. It is not against the law to have a look, right?

My friend arrived around quarter to 7 and we went to her house to leave her bags before we went back to Wat Hua Lamphong (วัดหัวลำโพง) We asked where the ceremony for our friend was held at the gate to the temple. There were several ceremonies and we were told to go to house #6.

We found the place and I recognised several of the people, but there were more people that I had never seen before.

We started by talking to our friend. His girlfriend asked me if I wanted to talk to him and I was not quite sure if I understood. But I went inside and I kneeled before the coffin and I put an incense in a pot. Then I Thai Funeral at Wat Hua Lamphong (วัดหัวลำโพง)went outside again. They told me to sit with the friends and family inside. But I felt more comfortable to sit outside.

I knew a few of the guys and our friend, the same friend that had answered the phone when I returned the missed calls last week when the accident happened, told me that there was a guy that knew me. I didn't knew him, but he started to talk about NANA Plaza 20 years ago. Lucky Luke and then he mentioned Thomas and then I knew that he knew me.

The monks arrived and, well, I didn't had any clue what was going on. Put it was some kind of prayer. The monks left and they brought tea and snack. And yes, I was on diet.

It was time to go home. But I will be back tomorrow again. We will move the coffin to the place for cremation. My 2 friends and I were hungry when we left and we crossed Rama 4 to the Thai Funeral at Wat Hua Lamphong (วัดหัวลำโพง)Chamchuri Square for something to eat. They were out of salmon at the first place and we left for the FUJI Japanese Restaurant instead.

We took a seat and my diet was capsizing instantly. There were so much good stuff in the menu and I'm afraid that I over ordered. The food was good, well, the salmon fried rice was not as good as I had expected. But the rest of the food was very good.

I took the subway back to the Sukhumvit station with one of the girls and I walked back home. We will be back at Wat Hua Lamphong (วัดหัวลำโพง) for the cremation tomorrow again.

Sunday 5th of February 2015
and my friend arrived at 10 and we did a session of boxing exercises. We only did 5 rounds as I didn't feel so good. I walked to Sukhumvit Subway station and I stepped in to Wat Hua Lamphong (วัดหัวลำโพง) at 12 thirty.

At 1 o'clock we brought the coffin with our friend to the crematorium located in the middle of the temple area. There was a white string attached to the coffin and a monk was walking ahead of the coffin holding the string. Our friend's brother walked first holding a incense stick and he was followed by our friend's girlfriend holding a picture of our friend. The rest of us walked behind the coffin and we walked around the crematorium three times.

Then we sat down and got some special flower to put on the coffin. 4 or 5 of our friend's friends held speeches and after that we went to put the flowers on the coffin. Monks were praying and when the coffin was in the crematory we went for a last farewell.

Farewell my friend, we miss you

We were going to Check Inn 99 for a last beer for our friend after the funeral ceremony. I was talking with a guy and I told him about my last ADVENTURE at Check Inn 99 I had been Thai Funeral at Wat Hua Lamphong (วัดหัวลำโพง)drinking San Miguel Light in a supersonic speed and the fridges could not keep up. So they had to keep 2 buckets full of ice and San Miguel in the bar.
- You're the one putting the picture of the bill on the internet?

Turned out that it was the owner of the Check Inn 99. He told me he was sorry for them having to use buckets and ice. He told me that they were normally selling 60 beers in an evening. So they didn't expect any Swedes coming to drink 60 beers in 2 hours.

I told him that this happened everywhere when I got started with the San Miguel Light. I remember on Surawong, we went to eat with the Bangkok Photographers, the restaurant was owned by a member. They only had Thai food so I ordered a sandwich. Happened to be the cheapest item in the menu.

And the look the owner gave me when I ordered the sandwich, it could kill! He expected to make the big buck when we came and I only order a sandwich. Well, when I left it was a different tune.
- I'm impressed! I have never seen anyone drink more beer before. This is our record. You drank more beer than we sell during a night here. You are welcome back!!!!

I was thinking about it but I never went back, seriously, if they look at me like something the cat had dragged in just for ordering a sandwich. Then they have to change the menu and only have expensive items. I can drink San Miguel Light somewhere else.

Well, he told me that they had bought two new fridges after our last visit back in December 2012. And I would come to check them out after the funeral.

Above Eleven on Sukhumvit Soi 11
December 2012, a good month for San Miguel Light

I took the subway back home, I stopped for some Bangers & Mash at Queen Victoria Pub on Sukhumvit Soi 23. I was dressed in black, nothing they had seen before along Sukhumvit Soi 23 and Queen Victoria on Sukhumvit Soi 23I had to explain that I had been at a funeral. A shower and a change of clothes and I was soon on my way to Check Inn 99.

My plan was to take the sky train to NANA station, but I had a fresh crisp shirt on and I didn't want to arrive with my shirt like a damp rag. So I stopped a taxi. And he dropped me at Sukhumvit Soi 8 and I crossed Sukhumvit via NANA sky train station.

I entered Check Inn 99 and I was soon having a San Miguel Light in front of me. I knew how this is going to end and I had double checked my “Hangover pack” before I left home:
A bottle of water next to my bed (It will not be cold, but WAY better than waking up with no water)
Hangover DVD, 2 seasons of Family Guy on DVD, season 11 and 12
Ice cream
2 Bottles of Baileys for the hangover surprise
And a new item! Plenty pineapple and papaya.

Yes, the original “Hangover pack” have been modified, it is 2015 fer foocks sake! So no more chocolate milk and I will hopefully be Pineappleable to get out of the hangover with a V-shaped torso. And who knows? Maybe the fruit will make me feel better than the darn choco milk.

We had a few beer at Check Inn 99 before we left for Queen Victoria on Sukhumvit Soi 23 for more San Miguel Light. 4 of the Guys went ahead of us and I and my new friend (or a new old friend) that know me and my friends from 20 to 25 years back in time. I met him at the funeral yesterday and my friend told me that this guy knew me. He pointed at the guy and I had no clue who he was.

He came up to us and he got started about the good ol' times in Bangkok. Yawn and double yawn! I only listened with half a ear, but I made sure to look interested just to be polit. He waffled on and on, but when I mentioned Thomas he got my attention. He mentioned that Thomas used to use his shoes as a mobile phone. This have not been any fun for at least 25 years so now we knew Thai Funeral at Wat Hua Lamphong (วัดหัวลำโพง)that we were speaking about a long time ago.

Now I knew he was the real deal. He mentioned another friend by name and this was remarkable as this is 20 to 25 years ago. He remembered every name from 25 years ago, and this is people he have not seen since then, remarkable.

We had a few San Miguel Light at the Queen Victoria Pub before we crossed the street to Soi Cowboy. Jeez, I have not been here drinking beer for many many years. And when we came inside the firs place I remembered why. I took a picture of my friends and I was attacked by the manager. It was not allowed to take pictures.
- What are you on about?
- You cannot take pictures of the girls
- I took a picture of my friends
- There is a mirror, maybe you can see the girls in the mirror
- Have you smoked yourself retarded?

Soi Cowboy
Please! Try to avoid looking at the mirror

Seriously, here is nothing worth having on picture, except for my friends. And there are so many places in Bangkok to have fun so it is really not necessary to hang around in the red light area. Seriously, I was here last time, well, back in the 90's. OK, I walk by here every day on my way to and from school, and believe me, as soon as you have passed here sober and in day light there is no wish to come back.

Well, I didn't stay long, I took a taxi to Sukhumvit Soi 12 and the birthday party.
