My 3 days Great Ocean Road tour for 2500$ turned out to be a scam VARNING! Söderhavs Resor - Destination Downunder - Southern World är skojare och lurendrejare. Använd inte några av deras tjänster!!  Wednesday 20th of July 2016 and I was very tired when my alarm went off. Snooze and then I turned off the alarm. Yes, I was excited about our morning safari, but I had a back-up alarm set for 06:15. A shower and a diet drink and I was pretty much ready when I heard our Guide calling outside my tent. My new friends from Holland was already waiting at the jeep when I came outside. I discovered that my battery was empty in the camera. I put my camera on the front seat and I ran back to my tent to get my new battery. From there on it only got worse. There were water condense in my lens when I came back to the jeep. I discovered that I had a hot air outlet just at the camera. The fog got worse by the minute and the camera was for no use at all during our morning safari.  We are ready to take off for our morning adventure

I could not use my camera during the morning safari. Well, luckily enough I know how to remove the condense from my lens. It will take a few minutes, but I wanted to wait until I was back in my tent to do the job. So I had to enjoy the safari without any camera. We passed a Forest Kingfisher and a Red winger Parrot. But I would not have got any good pictures anyway. But anyway, would have been nice to have had my camera just in case. Otherwise it was a nice tour and I'm looking forward to the next safari this very afternoon. I removed the condensate from the lens as soon as I was back in my tent. I was just ready when there was a terrible noise outside my tent. Barking and banging on the sides and under the tent. What is going on? The whole tent was shaking and there were some terrible bangs and I went out to see what was going on. And believe me, I was not running out to see what was going on. You never know what kind of dangerous animals they have in this part of the world. So I sneaked out, first looking out the windows, but I could not see anything.

There were maybe 10 kangaroos making trouble outside the tent. They were running around chasing each other while barking. They ran under the tent and bouncing in to the tent and the steel walls around the bathroom. They had simply gone crazy. When I came out they ran away and they were standing some 50 meters away looking at me. I  gave them the middle finger. I left for the visitor centre to buy some cookies for my new friends and then I would go for some bird watching.

    I gave my cookies to the Emus and I went for some bird watching along the lagoon track. I had been walking for 15 minutes when the drizzle started. Very annoying! But birding or bust! I continued along the Clancy's Lagoon. I could see the Black swan, Cormorants and some Egrets in the lagoon. I could hear many birds but it was very hard to get any pictures. I spotted at least three couples of the beautiful Red-backed fairywren. The male are red and black and the female are brown. And they were obviously wanting to have babies as they were dancing around so it was almost impossible to get any picture.  Red-backed fairywren, Malurus melanocephalus

I had been walking for an hour when I turned around in order to be back at the visitors centre at 12 for some lunch as I was getting hungry. I didn't manage to take any pictures on my way back,  well, one olive green bird that I have not been able to identify, but I'm working on it.
I asked for a pot of tea and two wraps when I was back at the coffee shop at the visitors centre. I had discovered a couple of Welcome swallows at our dinner yesterday. They had a nest in the coffee shop. Today I discovered another Welcome swallow couple building a new nest and they brought building material. And it was nice to watch them while waiting for my lunch. And the lunch was really good and I was in a good mood when I left the coffee shop.  Welcome swallow in the restaurant

We will leave for the afternoon safari at 4 o'clock. So I decided to walk along the lagoon track again, this time I walked in the other direction. But in this direction wasn't anything exciting. I did not even heard any bird song. I saw a Grey Fantail and a dragonfly. That was it so I turned around and walked back towards the visitor centre. And up here want any dirt track for cars and as we have many dangerous snakes I prefer to stay clear of any grass and just walk on the paths. Looking up the tree at the same time I'm keeping my eyes on the track for snakes. So I turned around and I walked back to the visitor centre and I would continue down along the lagoon on the other side of the visitor centre.  Grey Fantail, Rhipidura albiscapa

I saw a yellowish bird outside the visitor centre that I will need to have help with to identify. When I had passed the visitor centre I saw the Little pied Cormorant that we saw on a branch in the lagoon just a few meters from the road this morning. My camera was not working and I was back to look for the bird. Well, before lunch and there was no sign of the bird, but now the Little pied Cormorant was back and I got my pictures. And I was very pleased when an Australian pelican swam by looking for fish for dinner. It was very interesting to see the Pelican hunting. Time turned quickly and I would meet the other passengers for the afternoon safari when they came back from the cruise on the lagoon. I did it yesterday and I decided to skip it today. But I will meet them at 4 o'clock and when I was finished with the Pelican I went to the visitor centre to check for birds outside the coffee shop, always many birds there. I was quite happy with my day as I had seen many beautiful things and birds. It was 20 minutes before 4 when I sat down to order a pot of tea. I enjoyed my tea while reading an Australian bird book and watching the boat going around out there on Clancy's Lagoon hey were back and as there was 5 passengers in the boat I asked the Guide how many people that would join us in the jeep. If they were 5 I would stay behind. But it was only three people form Germany joining us and we took off a little after 4 o'clock in the afternoon. It had stopped raining and I was in the last row in the back and there was not much space to enjoy myself. I saw a few new birds during our tour. First the Spangled Drongo but the picture wasn't so very good. And while droving along one of the lagoons the Germans were looking at a Pelican on the lagoon. I discovered a Pheasant coucal in the tree between us and the forest, yet another new bird today.

 We spotted a Black-necked stork far out in the lagoon and we drove to a hide out in the forest overlooking the lagoon and we came closer to the Black-necked stork

 I'm back at my tent and I discover that someone is waiting for me
We were back at the Jabiru Safari Lodge just before 6 o'clock and I had my dinner. I asked for the honey mustard sauce today again. The dinner was very good and I was happy with my day when I returned to my tent. My Guide will pick me up at 07:00 tomorrow morning for our morning  birding.
